31st Balik-Tipon, November 29, 2009


Once again, NEHS alumni is getting together to celebrate the annual grand reunion, the 31st Balik-Tipon. This time, and the first time ever, it will be streaming live on Skype where alumni from all over the world will have the opportunity to join the party virtually. They can send in their greetings through the wire, view the on-going event on the fly and most of all, walk hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder down the memory lane with former classmates, teachers, friends and frenemies.

The first Balik-Tipon was held on November 30, 1979. It was when Joaquin Maniego sponsored two landmark resolutions: declaring November 30 as the date of the Board of Directors annual meeting; and creating a board of representatives from all classes for wider participation and involvement of all alumni. Service awardees during the first Balik-Tipon 1979 was Maning P. Sevilla, Jack S. Maniego and Conchita Joson-Ozaeta.

 Launching of Sedfrey Ordonez Fellowship Award, November 16, 2009


The Sedfrey Ordonez Fellowship Award (SOFA) was launched on November 16, 2009 at the main dining hall of AFP Commissioned Officers Club at Camp Aguinaldo.

The Fellowship Award was formed to honor and give recognition to the works and contributions of the late ambassador from Laur, Nueva Ecija and member of NEHS Class '38 in nation building.

The late ambassador's widow, Josephine and their children together with the former Senator Jovito Salonga graced the occasion.

Ordonez served as Solicitor General and Secretary of Justice during the Aquino administration abd before he died in 2007 was Philippine Ambassador to the United States.

He was a successful lawyer, a prolific writer and poet. His books, especially those written in Filipino, described the simple life in his native Laur, Nueva Ecija.View Gallery>>>
